Websites for a trade that does not sell online
Construction is not e-commerce. Nobody buys a groundworks package from a shopping cart, and the website is not going to replace the tender lists and relationships most of the work comes through.
What it does is decide whether you get considered. A contractor checking whether you can handle their job, a homeowner comparing three quotes, a site manager looking for a supplier who delivers to their postcode — all of them look you up first, and what they find determines whether they call.
We have built for construction businesses since 2010: concrete and aggregates suppliers, paving contractors, structural engineers, plant hire firms and quarrying operations. Most construction websites fail the same three ways.
Where construction websites go wrong
Everything on one page. Groundworks, demolition, civils, drainage and plant hire crammed into a single Services page, which can rank for one term at most. Split across individual pages, each can rank for what people actually search.
Stock photography. A generic hard hat tells a prospective client nothing. Real pictures of your own work, plant and sites do more than any copy about quality, and they are the one thing competitors cannot copy.
Accreditations buried. CHAS, Constructionline, ISO 9001 and 14001, Kitemarks, CE marking. These are the first thing a commercial client checks and they belong somewhere obvious.
Built for how the trade actually works
Almost all construction traffic is mobile — a site manager with a problem, a contractor between meetings, a driver in a yard. The site has to load fast on poor signal and put the phone number one tap away, which is why we build mobile-first and test on real devices.
The sector has specific requirements generic web design misses. Plant listings with real specifications. Coverage maps, because the first question is usually whether you cover a postcode. Health and safety documents to download. Vacancies. And quotation tools where the maths can be automated.
We built a concrete ordering calculator for S.Morris so customers could work out volumes and order delivery directly. For Aztec Paving we built an enquiry form asking what he would ask anyway — area, surface, drop kerbs, access — so enquiries arrive qualified rather than starting three phone calls.
Where a business needs more than a website we build web applications and integrate with existing systems, including Sage 50 so nobody rekeys data between the site and the accounts.
Clients we have built for
Named clients and real projects — several of them relationships running well over a decade.
What this sector needs
Individual Service Pages
Groundworks, civils, demolition, plant hire and materials each given their own page, so each ranks for its own search rather than competing on one.
Accreditations Front and Centre
CHAS, Constructionline, ISO and Kitemark certification where commercial clients look first, not buried on an About page.
Quotation & Enquiry Tools
Calculators and qualifying forms built around the questions you would ask anyway, so enquiries arrive ready to price.
What it costs and how it works
Websites start at £2,950 for a focused site and £5,950 for a larger build with a content management system, individual service pages and content writing. Complex projects with e-commerce, bespoke tools or integrations start at £9,950. Full detail is on the pricing page.
Every price is fixed and agreed in writing before work starts. No hourly billing, no scope creep, no invoice at the end larger than the quote. Hosting and support run from £95 a month on UK servers, with support direct from the person who built the site.
Mediatopia is deliberately small. You deal with the person who designs the site, builds it, hosts it and answers the phone when something needs changing — not an account manager or a junior learning on your project. It is why several clients have been with us for more than fifteen years. See the full case studies.
