Animal hospital web design project info
Emerson Veterinary practice in Bristol is a small family owned business offering a variety of pet services to the community. With over 18 staff, Emerson Vet is proud of its continual growth and adapts constantly to the modern technological era.
Emerson Vet have been clients of Mediatopia for nearly ten years. We have been supporting, updating and educating them on their website and what it can be used for, which they have embraced — they use it daily. Most recently we upgraded to a new responsive design, now fully mobile-friendly, and integrated our content management system so the practice can be creative with their pages and manage every facet of the design and content themselves.
What a veterinary website has to do
A vet practice website has one job above all others: get a worried pet owner to the right information fast. Someone whose dog has just eaten something it should not is not browsing. They want your out-of-hours number, your address and whether you are open, and they want them in the first three seconds.
That means emergency information belongs at the top of every page, not on a contact page two clicks away. It also means the site has to be genuinely fast on a phone, often on poor signal, which is why we build mobile-first and test on real devices.
Beyond emergencies, the site is doing steady work: registering new clients, explaining services, promoting preventative plans, and answering the questions that would otherwise tie up reception. A good practice website reduces phone calls as much as it generates them.
Local search and long-term maintenance
Veterinary is one of the most local search categories there is. Almost nobody searches “veterinary practice” without a place attached, so local search optimisation and a properly maintained Google Business Profile matter more here than in most sectors.
The other half is not letting the site go stale. Emerson Vet have used their website daily for nearly a decade because they can update it themselves, and because someone has kept it current as the technology has moved. A practice site that still looks like 2015 does not inspire confidence in 2026.
If you run a veterinary practice, animal hospital or pet service business, that is exactly the work we do. The Weston Lodge case study is a comparable long-term relationship.
